A denture is a removable appliance that is worn by patients with no natural teeth. Denture patients must learn how to use their cheeks, tongue, and lips to control the denture during speaking and eating. A partial denture is worn by patients that still have some natural teeth. The remaining teeth are used as anchors to hold the partial denture in place.

Dentures and partial dentures can be given added retention through the use of dental implants. The implants allow the denture or partial denture to snap into place and provide a much more stable platform, especially during eating.
